Attendees will have the opportunity to check out a wide variety of companies and jobs, as well as network with hundreds of other women. There will also be seminars throughout the day on perfecting your elevator pitch, pumping up your resume, practicing interview skills, and receiving career advice and mentorship from female entrepreneurs and CEOs. To register, visit http://www.womenforhire.com/ and familiarize yourself with the positions being offered.
In housing, on Tuesday, May 8, the Schiff Residences will open their waitlist for low income studios for homeless, single adults with disabilities. To get on the waitlist, come to 1244 North Clybourn, just north of Division, on May 8 at 7 am. For more information, call the leasing hotline at 312-447-4621.
Whatever you’re up to this week, don’t forget to take advantage of all that Chicago has to offer! The Museum of Contemporary Art is free to all Illinois residents every Tuesday. Visit the museum between 10 am and 8 pm at 220 East Chicago Avenue, one block east of Michigan Avenue, to see exhibitions of “the most thought-provoking art created since 1945.”
Finally, in honor of National Poetry Month, here’s a famous poem from Langston Hughes, American poet and social activist and an important part of the Harlem Renaissance:
Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.

Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.

I wish you a week full of dreams and paths towards achieving them.
