Sun, Jazz, Ice Cream: This Week's Broadcast Message

This is Abi with your weekly broadcast message. Today’s message contains information on three job opportunities, in security, industrial work, and hospitality, and an announcement about an upcoming hospital bill relief workshop.

In security, Discovery Clothing is now hiring store security for 12 locations throughout the Chicago area. Applicants must have strong customer service skills, the ability to work well with others, a strong work ethic and a high level of professionalism, and must be able to work nights and weekends. Visit www.discoveryclothing.com for more information and a list of locations where you can apply in person.

In industrial work, staffing agency Express Employment Professionals is hiring forklift drivers, material handlers, warehouse associates, machine operators, supervisors, and solders, as well as positions in administration, customer service, and information technology. E-mail your resume with the position you are interested in to Jo.lanasa@expresspros.com or call 847-394-1142.

In hospitality, the Midway Hotel Center, a group of 10 hotel/restaurant properties just south of Midway Airport, is hiring Guest Service Representatives, Bartenders, Drivers, and Event Coordinators. Apply in person Tuesday through Thursday, 9am to 12pm at Courtyard Midway Airport, 6610 S. Cicero Ave.

On Thursday, April 19, EZRA Multi-Service Center will hold a workshop on hospital bill relief. If you have unpaid hospital bills, are uninsured, and are low-income you might be eligible to have your hospital bills reduced or erased. Attend the workshop on April 19 from 4 to 6:30 pm at 909 West Wilson Avenue to learn more. Bring as much documentation as possible, including a photo ID, your hospital bills, a W2 form or documentation of unemployment, and any statements about government benefits you receive.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, April 3, is Free Ice Cream Cone Day at Ben & Jerry’s. Visit any Ben & Jerry’s between noon and 8 pm to receive a free cone!

Finally, today is the second day of April, which you may not have realized is National Poetry Month and Jazz Appreciation Month. If you’re able to, listen to some jazz this month, and in the meantime, here’s a poem from American writer e.e. cummings:

i carry your heart with me(i carry it in
my heart)i am never without it(anywhere
i go you go,my dear;and whatever is done
by only me is your doing,my darling)
                                            i fear
no fate(for you are my fate,my sweet)i want
no world(for beautiful you are my world,my true)
and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you

I wish you a week full of sun, jazz, ice cream, and success in all of your endeavors.
